How to Spec a Pillow for OEM & Wholesale Orders

Start with the “must-haves”

If you can answer the items below, we can usually quote quickly and recommend the right construction for your channel (retail, hospitality, DTC, or private label).

• Pillow type: down alternative, memory foam, latex, gel, body pillow, insert
• Size: Standard / Queen / King (or custom dimensions)
• Loft + firmness targets (soft/medium/firm) and intended sleeper profile
• Cover fabric: shell composition + weave, GSM/TC, finish (cooling, brushed, sateen, knit)
• Quantity + delivery schedule (single bulk drop vs monthly releases)
• Packaging: retail bag/box vs compressed in poly for freight

Fill specifications (what factories need)

For fiberfill, we’ll confirm fiber type, denier, siliconized/non-siliconized, and target fill weight. For foam cores, we’ll confirm density/ILD targets, core shape, and whether an outer fiber wrap is needed for hand feel.

Construction details that change cost & durability

• Seam type (standard vs double-needle), piping, and stitch density
• Gusseted vs non-gusseted (height, insert panel fabric)
• Zipper (for adjustable fill) or sealed
• Labeling: law labels, care label language, UPC placement
• Hospitality requirements: washability, protector recommendations, replacements
